Bestätigt: Google kauft YouTube für 1.65 Milliarden Dollar
In einer Pressemitteilung hat Google bestätigt, dass sie den populären Video Service YouTube kaufen werden. Google wird YouTube für 1.65 Milliarden Doller einkaufen. YouTube soll weiterhin auf eigenen Füßen stehen, um die bestehende Community Struktur nicht zu stören.
Beide Firmen werden eng zusammenarbeiten um den Service weiter zu verbessern. Die Marke YouTube bleibt weiterhin bestehen, entgegen aller Vermutungen. Auch Google Video bleibt von diesem Kauf unberührt. Hier ein Ausschnit aus der offiziellen Presse Mitteilung:
“When the acquisition is complete, YouTube will retain its distinct brand identity, strengthening and complementing Google’s own fast-growing video business. YouTube will continue to be based in San Bruno, CA, and all YouTube employees will remain with the company. With Google’s technology, advertiser relationships and global reach, YouTube will continue to build on its success as one of the world’s most popular services for video entertainment.
The number of Google shares to be issued in the transaction will be determined based on the 30-day average closing price two trading days prior to the completion of the acquisition. Both companies have approved the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006.”
Damit wäre Microsoft bzgl. des Werbedeals außen vor, es bleibt abzuwarten wie sich der Konzern dafür revangiert.
Viele befürchten vor allem Probleme mit der Legalität, durch Urheberschutzverletzungen beim Einstellen der Videos. Doch mal im ernst, eine Firma die Bücher aus Bibliotheken einscannt, sie online stellt und damit davon kommt …
