Wordpress FTP Update Tool
You got several sites running Wordpress and didn’t find a way to comfortable update them all at once?
Then the Wordpress FTP Update Tool is for you! Update multiple Wordpress sites easy and comfortable. Actually it is not bound to Wordpress but the intention of its existance is for Wordpress, feel free to use it otherweise, too.
This application is FREE, feel free to redistribute it.

Requirements:
- .NET Framework 2.0

Wordpress FTP Update Tool v1.2
How does it work? (Always backup your Wordpress database first, we don’t take responsibility for any damages!)
- Copy the Application Folder to a suitable place, e.g. C:\Program Files\WPUpdateTool
- Optional: Create a shortcut to WPUpdate.exe on your Desktop
- Fire up the application
- Hit Settings
- Fill in a profile name, e.g. wordpress.com
- Fill in the Source Path of the latest Wordpress bits, e.g. C:\latest\Wordpress\ – this has to be the path with the latest Wordpress files
- Fill in all the FTP Settings, hit “Check FTP Settings” to see if they are correct
- Note: Remote Path – if Wordpress sits in the root of the FTP site, just enter /, otherwise e.g. /wordpress/
- Hit “Save Settings”
- Back in the main window, hit “Update Profiles” (this won’t be necessary in future versions)
- Now the profile you just created has been selected
- Hit Copy FTP and the transfering starts, all files will be overwritten by default!
Feel free to add more profiles via “Settings” and choose “Copy to all FTPs” to update all Profiles at once. The most present output is also saved to “ftplog.txt”, you find it in your application directory.
Important note for Windows Vista Users: Add this Application to your trusted Applications in your Windows Firewall, otherwise the FTP Connections won’t work!

Die Frage klingt nun vielleicht ein wenig unpassend, aber wäre sowas auch für serendipity (http://www.s9y.org) möglich ?
Bei einem Update dieser Blogsoftware wird einfach die neue Vollversion auf den Webspace geladen und anschließend via Webinterface das Upgrade abgeschlossen.
Gerade der FTP-Teil ist bei inzwischen 8 solchen Seiten etwas nervig.

wie ich oben schon erwähnt habe ist das Tool nicht an Wordpress gebunden, auch wenn es so heißt
Das Tool transferiert Daten von einem Source Ordner zu einem Target Ordner auf einem FTP, ob im Source und Target Ordner auch wirklich Wordpress ist, juckt das Tool nicht. Du kannst also genauso gut im Source und Target Serendipity haben und es wird funktionieren.
Das Upgrade übers Webinterface musst du jedoch manuell ausführen.
Vielleicht füg ich in Zukunft noch ein Universal Tool hinzu und versehe das Wordpress Tool mit ein paar Wordpress spezifischen Features, aber die Funktionsweise wie du sie möchtest ist schon jetzt möglich.

Da war ich beim lesen wohl zu ungenau. Das Tool hört sich wirklich sehr nett an. Eine kleine Idee hätte ich:
Nach einem Update von S9y ist die Software quasi offen, da man den Installer ausführt. Toll wäre es, wenn es in dem Tool gäbe automatisch vor dem Upload der neuen Dateien auch eine .htaccess erstellt und somit vorübergehen den Zugriff unbefugter unterbindet (man kann die Datei auch selbst erstellen und dann einfach mitladen lassen, aber alles was automatisch geht ist einfach tolll )
Serendipity FTP Update Tool…
Der Titel stimmt nicht ganz, da das Produkt ja eigentlich Wordpress FTP Update Tool heißt. Aufgrund der allgemeinen Gestaltung kann es jedoch auch für die beste aller Blogsysteme verwendet werden.

Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null’ or one of its dependencies. Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden.

wo hast du denn die akFTP.dll hingepackt? Die muss mit im Programmverzeichnis sein, in der Zip sind 3 Dateien: akFTP.dll, WPUpdate.exe und Readme.txt.

It would be great if you could choose which ftp sites should be used for the multiple ftp file transfer.
You could invent “profiles” which include a list of ftp sites and the source directory of the new files that should be uploaded to these sites.
This would make this tool be useable for a lot more content management systems. You could have your 5 Wordpress sites, your 3 Joomla sites and your 7 Drupal sites. All could have different source directories and you would be able to update all sites of a kind by just one click.
ok, I just saw that I could make two directories and copy this tool twice, because it puts its config file in the corresponding directoryk, that works fine for me. thanks for a useful tool!

Die Idee ist nicht schlecht, aber …
Ich hätte ein paar Fragen:
1) Sollte man bei einem größeren Upgrade (wie z.B. auf v. 2.5) nicht zuerst die vorhandenen WP-Dateien auf dem Webserver löschen (damit die nicht mehr benötigten WP-Dateien nicht auf dem Webserver unnötig liegen bleiben)?
2) Wie ist es noch mal mit wp-config.php? Der gezippte WP-Ordner von WordPress.org enthält keine wp-config.php, wird sie also auch nicht überschrieben, oder?

1) Programmtechnisch zu aufwendig – v.a. kann man nicht einfach die Ordner löschen da das auch custom Themes, Uploads, etc. löschen würde. Über die paar Datenleichen hab ich mir ehrlich gesagt auch noch nie Gedanken gemacht
2) Richtig, der heruntergeladene WP Ordner enthält nur eine wp-config-sample.php.

I have setup my server to only use SFTP and port 53797.
The simplicity of this tool is exactly what I need as I manage over 20 wordpress 2.6.2 domains. Is there a way to modify it to use SFTP

sorry, currently it only offers FTP Support. I’ll check into the existing .NET SFTP Libraries and put it on the wanted list for the next release.
